"I love knowing that I am meditating any time with others who are participating intentionally, knowing that I am there too. I did place an ad in the classified section of the local paper. Those who responded tell me that they saw it there and appreciated it. These are folks that I wouldn’t have been in touch with in other ways. All are so happy to feel that we can make a difference. It’s not us. Really it's US, the Divine Self and the conscious self-recognizing it consciously."

4 minutes of stillness
by croth - posted on 03-3-2009 at 5:19 PM EST

My first grade class voted to continue to participate in the 4 minutes of stillness each morning, even after the conclusion of the winter feast . They quickly return from recess and are eager to sit in a circle of friends under calming lamp light to enjoy 4 minutes of quiet. Afterwards , some choose to share and speak of how that time calmed them down after a hectic morning. Others speak of colors that they see while their eyes are closed. I feel it is a wonderful exercise in noticing how calming silence can be. We all feel more at peace and are ready to work more cooperatively with one another. I like to express my gratitude after each sitting so they feel empowered and valued. I plan to have my future classes participate in this wonderful practice as there is deep value in sitting still for a precious 4 minutes. I plan to have them draw and write about their experience at the end of the year. I am certain that this event is one they will remember in future years.

Gratitude

I have a daily meditation practice but seldom meditate in community. I so appreciate the Feast for giving me the opportunity to do just that. I'm very happy to hear Phil Jones will be continuing to offer a weekly Insight Meditation talk. I listened to him each day of the feast and I can't express how much having that available enriched my experience. Thank you for all your work.---comment here---

Meditating for 40 days truly opened my eyes to the world. I noticed everyone I passed and smiled instead of shying away and felt lifted, I believe they did too. I felt an abundance of gratitude towards my life, life of others, nature, and natures hearts. I have continued to meditate and keep the intent of world and inner peace with me always. My self-acceptance has blossomed & enjoys reaching out to others. I’m happy that I stumbled upon the Winter Feast and am excited for 2010. Thank you to everyone involved, LOVE.

I've meditated every morning for the last 40 days, and it's been a wonderful experience. I'm going to continue with a daily practice. Jeddah Mali's closing meditation was very powerful -- I had already been smiling for about 15 minutes when she got to the part where she told us to smile. I plan to join her monthly calls. Thank you very much for putting this event together.

-I am very grateful for this event. I meditate regularly but for only 20 minutes per day. Doing it with a group really made a difference for me - the connections with others on a spiritual path. I especially appreciated and Shahabuddin's meditations. Thank you, Shahabuddin. They were all useful and quite a number of them were just beautiful. Thank you so much. Camille, NY--comment here---

I've never lasted 4 days, much less 40 minutes for 40 days. Your newsletters and postings made it easy and joyous to participate. Thank you. I would love to get the weekly quotes all year - much to learn, much to study. I'll be back next year! CT, Alfred, ME
