Synchronized Closing
2010 Winter Feast for the Soul
6:30 pm local time
February 23.
This year we will create a wave of meditations around the globe for the closing of the Feast rather than asking you to join together at a single moment. There will be a recorded meditation directed toward the closing that will be available on our website by February 22. The name of the guide who will lead the closing meditation on our website will be announced in the next newsletter.
You might also consider a gathering of people who are part of the Feast, so that you can share the final meditation and then share your experiences with one another. If you participated in the Candlelight Ceremony for the Opening, you might also want to re-assemble the altar that was created for the Opening.
Here in Sun Valley Idaho we will gather in Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church where the closing meditation will be broadcast. The meditation will be followed by dinner in the church hall where people will have the opportunity to share their stories, poems, and other expressions that best describes their personal experience with the Feast.
LET US KNOW WHAT YOUR PLANS ARE FOR A CLOSING CELEBRATION SO THAT WE CAN SHARE THEM WITH OUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY AND LIST THEM ON THE EVENTS PAGE OF OUR WEBSITE.
The mission of A Winter Feast for the Soul is to support individuals around the world in making a commitment to daily spiritual practice for forty days. A life grounded in daily practice is one that knows inner peace. It is that peace which translates into peace throughout our lives and ultimately to peace and healing for our planet.
We know that it only takes a few committed individuals to change the world. We are here to do that. Please join us this coming winter for
A Winter Feast for the Soul
a 40-day worldwide spiritual practice period for people of all faiths everywhere.
January 15 – February 23, 2010
Our Vision
- We hold a vision of a world at peace that surpasses the imagined boundaries of creed, culture, and philosophical belief.
- We hold a vision for individuals to find a way to access their own inner peace through a daily practice of meditation and prayer.
- We hold a vision of a world where there is sufficient abundance to support all sentient beings.
Our Goals
- To create an annual worldwide period of spiritual practice for people of all faiths to come together in prayer and meditation.
- To support people around the world in finding inner peace in their lives through the creation of a daily spiritual practice.
- To recognize that every person and every group is entitled to their own unique form of expression of these goals and is encouraged to practice them without discrimination.
- To work toward a global consciousness of peace.
Who We Are
A Winter Feast for the Soul is a non-profit organization operating under the auspices of Rising Tide International, a non-profit corporation located in Sarasota Florida. Our organization was originally formed in Sun Valley Idaho in partnership with the Light on the Mountains Spiritual Center in order to create the first Winter Feast which took place January 15 - February 23, 2008. Based on our experience with the first Feast, we have created a separate organization and expanded our outreach to a worldwide level. The impulse for our work is one that came out of the stillness of a daily meditation practice. We support one another in maintaining that practice as a source of strength, wisdom and compassion.

News For The Soul - Interview
On Saturday, July 12, Valerie Skonie was interviewed during a one-hour online program called News for the Soul.
The program aired live on www.newsforthesoul.com at 11 am PDT, 12 noon MDT, 1 pm CDT, and 2 pm EDT.
The interview included conversation with:
- Coleman Barks, retired professor, translator, and author of many of the books of Rumi Poetry now available in English.
- Jeddah Mali, spiritual teacher and mentor, who will lead one of the on-line meditations that will be offered during the 2009 Winter Feast.
It was the three-line poem by Rumi that inspired the first Winter Feast in January, 2008:
What nine months does for the embryo
Forty early mornings will do
For your growing awareness.
