Volume I Number 10

“Come, Come, Whoever You Are
Wonderer, worshipper, lover of leaving.
Come. Even if you have broken your vow
a thousand times
Come, yet again, come, come.”

Dear Friends of the Winter Feast for the Soul,

Today is Day 27 of the Winter Feast. I suspect some of you may be struggling to keep your commitment. If you happen to be one of those, please know that you are not alone. Remember Ken Brannon’s comment: “This Feast is not for the faint of heart.”

You can also take heart in knowing that this whole life is about starting over. Do not be discouraged if you have missed a day or two. Keep in mind the quote above which is often attributed to Rumi…”even if you have broken your vow a thousand times…come again.” In a meditation practice, we know that starting over happens frequently as we adjust our posture and return from wrestling with our thoughts as they invade the stillness of the mind.

We invite you to ”come again” and to remind others in your circle to join you. Our Global Heart Meditation on the 23rd will create a huge opportunity for you to join our community around the world and embrace the planet in the peace that we know through our own practices. We have learned to become the peace that we wish to see in the world. Let us celebrate that together.

Life is a process and we are all truly “works in progress”, no matter how long you have been on this planet.

With Love and Joy,

Valerie

Global Heart Meditation on February 23

February 23rd we will celebrate the completion of our forty-day cycle of spiritual practice. On this, the last day of our Winter Feast for the Soul, we invite everyone to join us in co-coordinating their meditation with other participants around the globe.

For instructions as to how to access the guided meditation by phone or with your computer, go to the home page on our website and click on HELP WITH WEBCASTS AND AUDIO CASTS on the left side of that page. Then click on Global Meditation. You will be guided to the meditation from there.

Note: Here in the Wood River Valley we will meet at 5:30 pm MST at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Ketchum. There will be an opportunity for those attending to receive the Oneness Blessing during that final meditation.

New Talk Shoe Site for Teens

In working with the enthusiastic teens in our valley, we decided that it would be good to meet them where they are comfortable. So we opened a new page on Talk Shoe just for teens: Meditations for Teens. The first offering is a 27 minute talk and guided meditation: How and Why to Meditate. During the next few days I will add three other guided meditations: 10, 15, and 20 minutes each. We invite teens worldwide to join in this new offering.

Meditation is especially helpful for teens in learning to focus, relieving stress, accessing self-esteem, and creating new habits for organizing the brain and creating new habits of mind that will last a lifetime. We now know that the brain continues to be in development through the late ‘20s.

To access these meditations:

  • Go to www.talkshoe.com
  • Type in Winter Feast in the search box in the upper right hand corner
  • Look for “Meditations for Teens” and click on that title
  • You can listen to the latest recorded offering by clicking on the white arrow inside the green circle to the right of the picture
  • Or you can scroll down to Past Episodes and listen to any past episodes by clicking on the circle labeled LISTEN to the right of the title.

February 21
Barbara Marx Hubbard on Conscious Evolution

Barbara Marx Hubbard is a futurist and the “first Lady” of the Conscious Evolution” movement. She is an author of several books and continues to influence the evolution of consciousness to this day. Barbara and Gregg Braden are part of a “think tank” that is being developed to advise President Obama and his administration on spiritual evolution in our 21st century global culture.

Notes From Gregg Braden’s Interview Last Week

I’ve heard really good feedback from people who were on the call last Saturday. A few of the highlights of his interview are listed here for you to ponder.

  • The electromagnetic field of the Heart Center is 5,000 times greater than that of the brain.
  • Focusing on gratitude, caring, appreciation, and compassion will affect our own magnetic field, as well as the magnetic field of the entire planet if enough of us are willing to do that work on ourselves.
  • We can literally change the “stuff” the world is made of. The question is “Will we choose to create the best of all possible worlds?”
  • We do have a choice about our future, no matter what the movies tell us. There are moments in our lives when we are at a choice point where the veils between the worlds are thinner. We can literally shift dimensions and choose peace for ourselves and for our planet.

To read about all of this in more detail, get Gregg’s new book: “Fractal Time” which is coming out in mid-March. The first printing is nearly sold out. The contents of this book is already being made into a PBS Special.

Inspirational Quotes for February 12 to February 18

February 12:

“The enemy of wisdom is the lack of tranquility of the mind. When the mind is tranquil, wisdom arises as a fountain.”
Hazrat Inayat Kahn, 20th Century Sufi Master

February 13:

“Quietness is the surest sign that you’ve died.
Your old life was a frantic running from silence.
The speechless full moon comes out now.”
Rumi, “Quietness” in the Essential Rumi

February 14:

“Some nights stay up till dawn,
as the moon sometimes does for the sun.
Be a full bucket pulled up the dark way of a well,
Then lifted out into light.”
     Rumi, p. 279,the Essential Rumi

February 15:

“Last night as I lay sleeping,
I dreamt—marvelous error! —
That I had a beehive
Here inside my heart.
And golden bees
Were making white combs
And sweet honey
From my old failures.”
Antonio Machado, excerpted from his poem “Last Night”

February 16:

“Freer of our conditioning, we now meet with openness
all that we had previously fled from.
We discover everything that so met,
Without grasping or rejection ,becomes a doorway
To radiant being.”
Jennifer Paine Welwood, Poems for the Path

February 17:

“Make no mistake about it –
enlightenment is a destructive process.
It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier.
Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It’s seeing
through the façade of pretense. It’s the complete eradication of
everything we imagined to be true.”
Adyashanti, from The End of Your World

February 18:

“The goal of yoga science is to calm the mind,
that without distortion it may hear the
infallible counsel of the Inner Voice.”
Paramahansa Yogananda from Autobiography of a Yogi

Did You Hear What Obama Said at a National Prayer Breakfast In Washington Last Week?

“May the grace of God flow into the spaces between us…”

I couldn’t believe my years when I heard him say this on the news later that day. There is definitely a good reason to hold out hope for significant changes in the consciousness of our gang in Washington.

I wonder if he read Gregg Braden’s “Divine Matrix”? I’m told by Gregg that many of his advisors have read it. More to come…

Sending you Peace and Love and Light to carry you through this incredible journey.

With Love,

Valerie
