Message from Our Director

Two days after the Feast began, I had my last chemotherapy appointment. Beginnings, and endings are ever present in our lives, are they not? How we walk through these events, moment by moment, is certainly affected by the level of Peace we feel in our hearts. Whether we live above or below the equator, physically we all have our hearts in the same place, do we not? And our consciousness shares a common intention as well. We can learn to be more peaceful by making a commitment to embody Peace in our lives, and meditation helps us do just that.

If you were unable to be involved for the 7 days of practice this year, pull out your calendar and pick a date. Set aside time for yourself in that week. The planet will thank you! The meditation recordings stay up all year, so you can really pick a week, and create time for deepening your practice. We had wonderful new offerings, and highlights from our archives, so there is much for you to choose from.

We will take a couple of weeks to rest and regroup as we think about the coming 2012 Winter Feast for the Soul (Summer for you in the South!) January 15th – February 23, 2012. Our founder, Valerie Skonie, is creating a new program for the 2012 Feast which we think you’ll find quite exciting. More to come in future issues!

We are so grateful for the wonderful, loving, peaceful community of the Feast.

Summer Feast/Winter Feast Wrap Up

Even though this year’s event was more low-key than last year, we still heard from people around the world, and had events taking place in several cities. It is exciting and rewarding to see communities coming together like those in Ukiah, CA and Ardrossan-Alberta, Canada. The potential for our 5th Annual Winter Feast for the Soul in 2012 is tremendous!

Here is Asheville, NC a group has formed that is planning monthly events focusing on awakening the Global Heart. Our kick-off on the 21st of June was co-partnered, and we are seeing wonderful things happen. We featured a labyrinth, meditation, music and visioning last month, and this month on the 28th, Barbara Marx Hubbard’s film Humanity Ascending will be shown, with meditation and group discussion about the evolution of consciousness. Events like these show what is possible through the mission of Winter/Summer Feast for the Soul. So plan now to become a Community Coordinator in 2012, your group and event can be small and intimate or large and spectacular!

Although our virtual sangha for the Summer Feast is generally a lot smaller than for the Winter Feast, there is a special flavor to it that I always find rewarding. The opportunity to share my Heart-Centered practices with you is always different. Each year I myself am in a different place and so the practices take on a different perspective as well. My following this year was consistent and continues to be used and appreciated by many of you after the official Feast has ended. Thank you for your kind feedback and many blessings on us all on our journey Home.
