Sample Media Releases

If you want to get visibility in your local newspapers or radio stations for your Winter Feast activities, here are two samples of a media release you can use as examples. Remember to link to the Winter Feast home page, and do not alter the text in the paragraph that describes Winter Feast.

Winter Feast for the Soul Description – short

The Winter Feast is a free 40-day period beginning each January 15 that allows people to have a life changing experience with inner stillness. From stillness, loving kindness and compassion flow naturally into daily life. The organization was inspired by the words of the Persian poet Jelaluddin Rumi, who said “What nine months does for the embryo, forty early mornings will do for your growing awareness.” This year’s teaching faculty includes leaders from Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Sufism, QiGong, and yogic and modern interdenominational traditions. There are also meditations in Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.

Winter Feast for the Soul Description – longer

The Winter Feast is a 40-day period beginning each January 15 that allows people to have a free life changing experience with inner stillness. From stillness, loving kindness and compassion flow naturally into daily life. The organization was inspired by the words of the Persian poet Jelaluddin Rumi, who said “What nine months does for the embryo, forty early mornings will do for your growing awareness.” Each year the teaching faculty changes, but has included leaders from Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Sufism, QiGong, and yogic and modern interdenominational traditions. We have also offered meditations in Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese and these are archived on our site.

Winter Feast for the Soul (“Winter Feast”) was founded in Idaho in 2008, and holds a vision of a world at peace that surpasses the imagined boundaries of creed, culture, and philosophical beliefs. Together with the annual Winter Feast program, there are age-appropriate meditations for children and teens and a Prison In-Reach program that teaches inmates in solitary confinement how to meditate. Their meditation archives are available online year-round. Winter Feast is a charitable organization run almost entirely by volunteers, and welcomes contributions of both time and money.

Go to the Winter Feast home page (www.winterfeastforthesoul.com) and choose “Meditations” on the top navigation bar. This takes you to the Meditations Index page, where you may choose a teacher or a tradition. Teachers are listed in alphabetical order by last name. Click on the teacher you want to learn about or follow. This will open a page with a profile of the teacher. All meditations by this teacher will be listed in sequence on this page once they are published. Bookmark the page or mark it as “Favorite”.

When the Winter Feast begins on January 15, a new meditation from each teacher will be posted daily on their page for 40 days. Return to this page daily for as long as you wish to continue following this teacher. You may change teachers and traditions at any time. Meditations are archived and available to re-listen or share with others year-round.
